Attitude diapers do work well, specially well for eco-friendly diapers I did try a bunch and some of them (the real eco-friendly ones) get really hard and bulky when wet, but the sizing between 1-2 and 3 is off....my son is now a wee bit big for 1-2 and way too small for size 3 (they are huge for a 15 pounds baby)

Great post! I think that postpartum mood disorders and c-sections are too often not spoken about and definitely not together. It is important to talk more about the trauma that women experience and the PTSD that comes along with it. Many times I hear women say that it "wasn't that bad" but then tell me about the postpartum mood disorder that they are suffering from. Your suggestion about hiring a postpartum doula and a birth doula is great. Many doulas attend scheduled surgical births that are medically necessary because of the need to help support women and their families. In some hospitals they are draping moms backwards so they can hold their babies immediately afterwards and do skin to skin bonding but it is a challenge to get some hospital staff on board with that.

[...] This negative emotional response often leads to moms not being able to bond with their newborns and can spell trouble for breastfeeding. Zibby and Rebecca see this scenario play out all to often. “I don’t know the numbers, but I’ve heard there’s a link between postpartum depression and c-section delivery because the mothers feel cheated out of their birth experience,” says Zibby. It appears that the most current research does not conclusively show a connection between cesarean sections and postpartum mood disorders but anecdotal evidence is mounting as more and more mothers bravely raise their voices and share their own experiences.
Great post, Lauren! You write so well! While I felt (and still feel) like my C-section was totally necessary, I realize that for many, they are not. I tend to agree that depression after ANY surgery seems sort of "normal". Not good, but "normal". But it doesn't seem like anyone prepares you for it, you know? I felt like the info I got about PPD was lame and any other postpartum mood disorders info? totally nonexistent! There has to be a better way!

I believe there is also some evidence that suggests that depression is somewhat common after any type of surgery. I have often wondered how that is impacting mothers who have surgical births.
